CARPOOLS
Use this convenient carpooling site to hitch a ride with people going to Break Free or fill the extra seats in your car. A full car is less carbon-intensive! The most important thing to know before using this is that we hope carpools will be the primary mode of transportation around the Break Free areas during the weekend. Please read all instructions before posting your car as there are some unexpected expectations….
For Drivers
- Provide as much detail about your departure as possible, including a departure location (it can be a public store parking lot instead of your house!). Why? Lots of people from the same cities will be traveling, so specifying which part of town you’re leaving from will make meeting your passengers easier!
- Use the Description box to specify:
- If your return day/time is flexible, and how flexible. Why? People engaging in civil disobedience might be held up a day or two for processing. Please write “I could wait until __pm on ___day to leave Anacortes”
- How much camping gear or otherwise you can fit for riders
- Where you are staying for Break Free. Why? We want riders and drivers to match up based on where they are staying to minimize logistical challenges.
- Consider how many seats you can actually fill and still accommodate camping gear and supplies for all of your riders.
- You will probably be driving your carpool to locations throughout the weekend! The main campground, an event space in Anacortes, and March Point are all about 15 min drive apart.
For Riders
- What makes a good match?
- Car is leaving and returning at times that match your schedule
- Driver is staying at the same location as you (should be specified in the Description). Why? We want riders and drivers to match up based on where they are staying to minimize logistical challenges.
- Your need for a flexible return time matches the flexibility of the driver
- Car is departing from a location convenient for you
- You will probably be sticking with your carpool to get to locations throughout the weekend! The main campground, an event space in Anacortes, and March Point are all about 15 min drive apart.
I understand the carpooling system!
